Faith
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers they will not sweep over you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
In the bible passage above, God is addressing the children of Israel through the prophet Isaiah. He is reassuring them that His presence will never leave them and He will see them through every trial they go through.
In the same way that God was with the children of Israel, He is with you today. Fighting for you, protecting you and seeing you through every struggle, each and every day. God will never desert you. However, just like the children of Israel, we sometimes doubt God and His ability to rescue us from difficult situations. We doubt His capability to strengthen us through situations which look like all hope is lost. I just want to encourage you today to be courageous enough to trust in God no matter what you’re going through. Isaiah 40:31.
The foundation of courage is faith and you can build up your faith in God through His Word, but not just the bible. In the Greek language, there are two types of the word of God: Rhema and Logos. Logos is the written word of God from Genesis to Revelations. The Rhema word is the spoken word of God. Mathew 4:4. Rhema in Greek literally means “utterance” or “things said”. You need both the written and spoken Word of God to help you build up your faith and courage in God.
Faith is an essential part of your relationship with God because as the Bible says, we live by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Simply praying to a God that you cannot physically see demonstrates faith. However, you cannot allow yourself to be content with such a small level of faith. This means that your faith will be tested so that it can increase. Hebrews 11:6
Overcoming your fears and choosing to believe in the word of God is proof that your faith is increasing. However, fear can quickly cripple your faith if you are not constantly being renewing our mind by the Rhema and Logos Word of God. Hebrews 4:12 says for the Word of God is alive and powerful. You cannot do without the Word of God, you need it to fight back against fear because that is what strengthens your spirit man. It is what equips you to fight back against doubt – which comes from the enemy. If you do not read and meditate on the Word of God daily and realise that you are royalty in Christ.
Creating doubt in someone’s mind is something that the devil just loves to do. Whether it’s making you doubt yourself, your ability to be used by God, or just doubting God’s existence and power, the devil knows that once he removes or reduces your faith, your shield is down (Ephesians 6:10-18). When you feel like your faith is being tested, remind yourself of the many wonderful miracles God has done in the past: He removed the children of Israel from Egypt after 400 years in captivity (Exodus 1-15), He shut the mouth of the lions for Daniel’s sake (Daniel 6:22) and He was with the three Hebrew children and didn’t allow them to get burnt in a furnace seven times hotter than normal (Daniel 3:22-26). This is still the same God that we believe in; He hasn’t changed! God has done countless miracles and He is not about to slow down in your life.
Whenever you feel like you are focusing more on your situation that on God, pray this God saying “Let your higher reality invade my reality” This prayer means ‘Lord, I am not ignorant to my current situation, I am fully aware that physically this may be impossible, and right now I don’t know how I am going to get through this, but, I believe that because you are a faithful God and you have never let your children down, I’m going to trust you. I am going to trust that you will do what you said you will do’.
God is always there to help and encourage you. You just have to go to Him and give Him your time and attention so that He can fill you with His Spirit, which will increase your faith in Him.
Rest in God’s truth,
Stay Blessed x
