Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude… love will last forever!
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
The Bible gives us a standard for love, in fact, it defines it and tells us what love is. Therefore, when you demonstrate love to other people it should be in line with 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. We are called to not only love God but to love everyone, both those who believe and those who do not.
The love of God is powerful, and if you are saved you would have had a personal experience of the impact of God’s love. So, you know the power and how it is capable of changing lives, they way it did yours. Sometimes I look at the world, the poverty, homelessness, corruption etc and think how did we get here. How did humanity become so selfish, it’s because we stopped loving. We stopped caring for each other as much as we do for our family. I know that this isn’t true for every single person, but in general, the world is the way it is today because we find it hard to love others the way we love ourselves.
We need God’s love, but we cannot expect love from God, if we do not show it, just like with forgiveness. People will hurt you there is no two ways about it, but will that stop you obeying your Father? We offend him on a daily basis but yet His love never changes. People’s actions can easily discourage you from showing, but like the bible says love is patient. Keep on loving people despite what they do. We have all received the love of God freely without conditions, and so, we must love without conditions.
Love lasts forever which means you can never stop loving God’s people, as hard as it may seem, you just can’t. We have all fallen short of grace but Christ still loved us and if we are going to be like Him, we must love the way He loves.
