Love

The Greatest Commandments

Jesus replied “the most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Isreal! The Lord our God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these

Mark 12- 29-31

Without loving God and loving one another we are not children of God and that is the truth. Love isn’t an option it’s a command, and a command that we must fulfil. We are the evidence of God’s existence, He moves and works through us and truly, we couldn’t love God without loving the works of His hands.

Love is powerful and we have seen it through the sacrifice of Christ. We are living proof of how powerful love is because it was the love of God that took Christ to that cross, and for that reason we ae all saved! The bible tells us over and over and over again to love, but not to just love but to love each other as we love ourselves. To care for each other as we care for ourselves. Imagine how the world would be if we all loved each other as we loved ourselves. I can promise you we would be living in a very different world.

Love is so important to God because He himself is love. He is love!! Love comes from Him, so doesn’t it make sense that as His children we must love the way He loves? One thing I have learnt about Christ through studying His word is that He was a perfect reflection of God. He ONLY did the father’s will, He ONLY said what God said, He ONLY did what God did and nothing else. He lived His life as a vessel for God to use, and that is how we should live. Jesus was a perfect example of how we as children of God should be living. We were created to be a perfect reflection of God, and if God is love then we should be a perfect reflection of love!

Jesus taught us that all commandments are fulfilled in loving God and loving His people. Why? because when love begins to speak miracles happens. When love begins to take over a place there is unity, unity with God and unity with one another. When we are consumed with love for each other and for God, we will relentlessly intercede in prayer for each other as Jesus did for us. Where there is love the devil cannot be in that place because love comes from only God, and so, therefore, love brings life!
