Trusting God
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-5
Trusting God with all your heart means that there is nothing that God will ask you to do or say to you that you will not believe or do. Even when things are looking bad and what God said is looking impossible you still choose to Trust Him. It’s easier to say you trust God when things are going good and you are not waiting on Him for anything. But, what about when everything around you is saying something contrary to God’s Word. Will you still trust in Him then, and hold on to the what He said, or will you just break down and call God a liar? Your level of faith is not determined by the good times, but by the bad. It is when things are seemingly going wrong and you choose to stand on God’s word that you can confidently say you trust Him.
Trusting God is essential to getting to know Him better From the very day you gave your life to Christ you began to trust Him. So, don’t ever feel like you can never trust God the way He wants us to. In order to trust God more, you stop relying on your own understanding and start relying on God. There is no point receiving instructions or a promise from God, then beginning to rationalise it in your mind; that is not trust. That means that you rely on your own judgment more than God’s.
The bible says that God uses the foolish thing of the word to confound the wise, that means that sometimes what God says to you, will not make sense, or seem impossible but you have to trust Him anyway. There is no formula on how to trust God, you just have to.you can read the word to increase your faith, but ultimately you will still just have to trust Him. Going through trials and hard times will increase your trust in Him because you will never know how trustworthy God is until you have no choice, but to trust Him.
